Macau Sauna Theme Room: Majesty's Chinese Wedding Bed

The door opens and the red arrives before anything else. A round bed covered in red silk, dragons stitched across it in gold thread, and on the wall facing you a single 囍 character with one lamp pointed straight at it. You are in Macau on an ordinary evening, standing in front of a wedding bed. Most people laugh first.

Once you lie down

Then you lie down. The silk is cool and slippery, the gold dragon is directly under you, and the pillows are the same red, the same gold. Shift the rolled towels from the middle of the bed and there is room. From the pillow, the one thing on the wall with light on it is the 囍; the two small red paper cuttings beside it stay in the dark. A red stool, a red basin on it, a red towel on the wall, all the same red as the bed. The floor is dark marble, which takes a little of the heat out of all that colour.

You ask for the room when you book

The time before the room is yours

Majesty is open 24 hours. Therapists are on duty from 14:00 to 06:00 the next morning, so if you want a massage in the same visit, arrive inside that window. Everything before the room, the locker room, the shower, the bath pool, a walk past the line-up in the lobby to choose your therapist, is your own time and none of it counts toward the session. The session’s length is counted from the moment the therapist begins.
