Macau Sauna, Majesty Spa: Four Days at the Macao Open, and the Hour After the Crowd Was Gone

This year’s Macao Open is played from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 October at Macau Golf and Country Club. At the previous edition, one guest stood at the edge of the course until dusk on all four days. Every time a shot went up, the hundreds of people around him held their breath together and cheered together, the PA kept calling out the scores, and wherever he walked there were people. When the last round was over, he did not follow the crowd to dinner. He came to Majesty Spa instead.

The bath water came up to his shoulders, and for the first time in four days it was quiet around him, nothing but the sound of water. Out of the bath, he told the manager the series he wanted. He had noted it down from a guide he read online before coming, which called it Majesty’s most popular tier. Then he met the therapists on duty in person. One of them gave him a small nod and said softly, “You must be tired.” After four loud days that voice sounded especially good, and he chose her.

The door closed, and the noise outside was gone

The room was dimly lit, and once the door closed, every sound from outside was gone. He lay face down on the dry bed, and her hands worked on his shoulders and upper back for a while first, until the part of him that had spent four days in the sun, craning to follow the ball, slowly let go. Then she moved down his back, and her hands came to his hips and the backs of his thighs with oil. For four days he had followed the ball from one hole to the next, standing to wait and walking to keep up, and the backs of his legs had gone sore and stiff. Her palms pushed from behind his knees all the way up to his hips, each pass a little deeper than the last, until the ache slowly turned into warmth. He let out a long breath and felt that his legs no longer had to walk.

She signalled for him to turn over, and he lay on his back. All he could hear in the room was her hands and his own breathing, a quiet that felt almost unreal after the voices on the course. She worked on his chest and arms first, and about ten minutes later she came to the fronts of his thighs, adding oil to her hands and gliding from just above his knees to the tops of his thighs, slow and light. The legs that had walked the course for four days softened under her hands little by little and sank heavily back onto the bed. He closed his eyes and felt lighter than he ever had. Only then did he know that skipping the crowd’s dinner on the last day and coming to Majesty Spa had been the best decision of all four days.

She stayed on his thighs for a few more minutes, and four days of crowd noise and footsteps seemed to go with the oil she pushed away. Last of all she laid a hot towel on his chest and wiped the oil off. He stayed where he was, wanting only to lie there a little longer.

On the lounge recliner

She saw him out of the room to a recliner in the rest area and handed him over to another masseuse. He chose ear cleaning and turned his head to one side, and all he felt at his ear was a very fine touch. For four days his ears had been full of cheering and announcements, and now there was only that small sound. He very nearly fell asleep on the recliner.

The nights of the Open

You finish watching late and still want a massage. Majesty Spa is open 24 hours, so you can come in at any time. Therapist hours are counted separately: as of October 2026 they are on duty daily from 14:00 to 06:00 the next morning, so arrive within that window if you want a massage.

You would like to stay until morning. Overnight stays are possible, and you can rest in the lobby rest area until daylight. If you want a space of your own, paid private rest rooms are available during peak hours, and you can ask about the fee and details when you book. Packages include entry and allow a stay of up to 24 hours.

You only decide after the golf whether to come tonight. There is no deadline for booking the car, and a message on the day is fine; if you would like things arranged at an easier pace, tell us a day ahead.
